WHO HAS ALREADY CHOSEN EDR

What if "Made in Italy" investment casting is now a hindrance rather than a guarantee?

Out-of-control energy costs

European foundries pass energy costs onto your unit prices. You are paying the utility bill, not the value of the part.

Unattainable labor

Finding specialized operators for manual finishing or deburring in Italy is nearly impossible. Lead times are increasing.

Rejection of medium-sized batches

Many local foundries no longer accept orders under 5,000 pieces or apply expensive setup fees that kill your margins.

You are paying a "peace of mind premium" that makes you less competitive every passing day...
On the other hand, you know that Asia offers unbeatable costs

But you also know that going there alone is a leap into the unknown.

The "Mystery" of the alloy: You order AISI 316 and receive a material that rusts after 6 months because the chemical composition is not certified.

Hidden porosity: The parts look good on the outside, but during the first machining process, you discover internal porosity that forces you to scrap everything.

Molds held hostage: If the foundry closes or raises prices, your mold is lost in China and you have to start all over again.

Managing and truly controlling investment casting production in Asia on your own is extremely difficult.
You need a bridge!

A company that combines Asian production efficiency with the security, control, and reliability you would expect from a European supplier.

EDR Fittings is not an intermediary.

It is your outsourced production department, providing access to hundreds of the best Asian manufacturers, already selected and tested for you over the last 25 years.

LOCAL SUPPLIER

OVERSEAS SUPPLIER

We do not sell "castings"

We provide finished components, tested and ready for the assembly line.

We do not just “melt metal.” We engineer the process to reduce weight, eliminate unnecessary machining, and guarantee dimensional repeatability that sand casting cannot offer. We manage the entire flow, from the choice of the casting process (Silica Sol vs. Water Glass) to non-destructive testing.

Materials and special alloys

We manage the supply of materials that are often difficult to find or prohibitively expensive in Europe. We guarantee chemical compliance with spectrographic analysis on every batch.

Stainless steels

AISI 304, 316L, 17-4PH, Duplex 2205.

Superalloys & Titanium

Nickel-based alloys (Inconel 625/718) and Cobalt for high temperature/corrosion applications. Titanium casting in a controlled atmosphere.

Non-ferrous alloys

Bronze, Brass, and specific Aluminum alloys (e.g., A356 T6 heat-treatable, superior to standard die-casting alloy).

Carbon and alloy steels

For structural and mechanical applications.

investment casting

Investment casting technologies

Complex components such as: valves, impellers, automotive, marine. We choose the correct process based on your requirements for roughness, budget, and tolerance.

Silica Sol Process

For superior surface finishes (Ra 3.2 – 6.3) and tight dimensional tolerances (CT4-CT6). Ideal for stainless steel and critical aesthetic or functional components.

Water Glass Process

The strategic choice to reduce costs on less critical or large-scale components, while maintaining structural quality superior to sand casting.

Machining and heat treatments

Casting is just the beginning. We provide the component ready for the assembly line.

CNC Machining

Turning, milling, and grinding of critical seats directly on the casting.

Heat treatments

Solution annealing (for Stainless Steel), Quenching and Tempering, Aging (T6), Normalizing, and Case Hardening.

ASIAN TECHNOLOGY
EUROPEAN SAFETY
We have eliminated all the risks of importing, leaving you only the benefits

Many promise you “Chinese prices.” Few tell you what happens when something goes wrong.

We do not ask you to take our word for it.
We provide you with written, contractual, and insurance guarantees that no improvised trader can offer you.

1. Double quality control

We apply a double check:

1. In Asia: Our technical staff performs factory audits and in-line inspections during production.

2. In Italy: Before delivery to you, the goods pass through our metrological laboratory in Genoa. We verify tolerances and materials with CMM machines, 3D scanners, and spectrometers.

2. Allianz Product Liability Insurance

This is the guarantee that gives our customers peace of mind. EDR Fittings covers every supply with a Third-Party Liability Insurance Policy.

If one of our components should cause accidental damage to property or persons due to a manufacturing defect, you are covered.

Virtually no one else does this. We do.

3. "Satisfaction or your money back" sampling

We know that investing in new molds can be daunting. Here is our pact: We produce the tooling and the first samples. If they do not conform to the drawing, we redo them at our expense.

What if the second trial is also unsuccessful?

We will fully refund the cost of the tooling. You do not risk a single euro.

4. Price locked in Euro

Forget about fluctuations in the Dollar or Yuan that erode margins once an order has started.

The price we agree upon at the time of the order is what you will pay upon delivery, in Euro. We take on the exchange rate risk.

5. Continuity guarantee

We directly manage intermodal transport from Asia to the rest of the world by air, rail, or sea.

Should production suffer an unexpected delay, we take charge of the urgent air shipment to get you the parts needed to keep the line running, at no additional cost to you.

About us
The face behind EDR

We are not salespeople; we are technicians and engineers.

Behind EDR Fittings there is no anonymous investment fund. There is Edoardo Della Rocca, founder and technician with a visceral passion for mechanics.

“I founded EDR with a simple idea: to combine the best technologies in the
world (which today are found in Asia) with the culture of Italian quality.
I am a pilot (Porsche GT3) and a nautical commander: I know that a defective component is not just a cost, it is a risk that one cannot afford.”

This is why several times a year I personally visit the factories of our production partners in China and India. I am not satisfied with a report via email.
I want to see the machines running and the quality controls being performed.”

FAQ

TOUGH ANSWERS TO
LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS

You are not required to have a “frozen” design. Our technical office in Genoa always performs a preliminary Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis. Often, before starting the mold, we suggest small geometric changes that are functionally imperceptible but improve the quality of the casting and reduce the mold cost. The goal is to optimize the part before spending a single euro on tooling.

Absolutely not. The molds are your exclusive property. EDR Fittings acts as a custodian: we guarantee routine maintenance and correct storage with our partners to protect them from wear. If one day, for any reason, you decide to withdraw them, we will organize the shipment to your premises. All of this is governed by a contract under Italian law, not Chinese law.

Yes. Although China remains the leader for technology and costs, we have diversified our supply chain. EDR Fittings also has qualified production partners in India and Vietnam. Depending on the trend of tariffs, transport costs, or your company policies, we can move production to the most advantageous country, always guaranteeing the same quality standard and the same Italian technical contact.

We never rely solely on paper certificates. The chemical composition is verified twice: first at the foundry with a spectrometer during pouring and, if necessary, a sample is sent to a certified Italian laboratory for further confirmation. We always provide the 3.1 certificate according to the EN 10204 standard, validated by our metallurgists. If the material does not match the required spectrum, the batch does not even ship.

The standard sea transit time is 90 days, but it is not the only option. For sampling or critical emergencies, we use air freight (7-10 days). Furthermore, for customers with scheduled orders, we offer a Consignment Stock service or safety warehouse in Italy: we produce in advance and keep the goods ready in Genoa, delivering them within 48 hours when you need them.

This is precisely why we prevent the problem at the source. Upon request, we perform Radiographic (X-Ray) and Dye Penetrant testing on the raw casting. However, thanks to our Allianz Product Liability Policy, if a hidden defect should escape testing and cause damage or additional costs, you are protected by insurance coverage, something a direct importer cannot offer you.

Protecting your Intellectual Property (IP) is our priority. Even before receiving the files, we sign a binding NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) in Italy. Our production partners have worked with us for over 20 years on exclusive projects (including luxury and automotive brands) and are contractually bound not to disclose or reproduce components for third parties. Your legal interface remains EDR Fittings S.r.l., subject to Italian law.

Our philosophy is technical, not just commercial. We advise against investment casting if you have very small batches (under 50-100 pieces per year) where the mold amortization would be too high, or if you have very simple geometries (e.g., standard cylindrical bushings) that cost less to machine from bar stock. In these cases, we will tell you immediately during the free feasibility analysis, directing you toward the most cost-effective technology for you.
