Heating steel to 1200°C is expensive. In Europe, high energy costs are passed on to your unit price, making the forging structurally uncompetitive in the market.
In Italy, you often have to coordinate three different suppliers: the forge, the machine shop, and the heat treatment provider. Three margins, three shipments, triple the risk of delay.
Finding personnel for strenuous jobs like deburring or manual finishing is almost impossible. Lead times increase and quality suffers.
But you also know that going there alone is risky…

Let’s put the numbers in black and white: here is what you actually get when you choose EDR compared to traditional alternatives.
Many suppliers deliver the raw forging and leave you to manage machining, treatments, and finishing with external subcontractors. We manage the entire supply chain. From the ingot to the packaged component, you have a single point of contact and a single responsibility: ours.
We manage the supply of steels and alloys with 3.1 chemical certification on every batch.
(e.g., C45, 39NiCrMo3, 42CrMo4) for high-strength structural components.
(e.g., AISI 304, 316L) hot forged to ensure absolute density and the absence of pinholes after polishing.
6000 series (6061, 6082) and 7000 series (7075) for the automotive and motorcycle sectors, where the power-to-weight ratio is critical.
Forging is just the beginning. We deliver the part with the H7 tolerances you require.
Precision turning, milling, and grinding directly on the forging for bearing seats and threads.
Quenching and Tempering, Normalizing, Case Hardening, and Solution Annealing (T6 for aluminum) to achieve the specified mechanical characteristics (HRC Hardness, Tensile Strength).
And to complete the job 100%:
No management of external plating. The part arrives finished.
Mirror polishing (manual or robotic), Satin finishing, Decorative anodizing.
Galvanizing, Electroless Nickel Plating, Hard Chrome Plating, Black Oxide, Painting (liquid/powder), and Cataphoresis for maximum corrosion resistance.
Tumbling and sandblasting for deburring and surface uniformity.
The nightmare of forging is cooling cracks. We intercept them before shipping.
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) and Dye Penetrant Inspection to detect invisible surface cracks. Radiographic Testing (X-Ray) and Ultrasonic Testing for internal integrity.
CMM dimensional inspections with detailed reports.
Pressure leak testing for valve bodies and hydraulic fittings.
Don’t have a 3D drawing? We can reconstruct it starting from your physical sample, optimizing it for the forging process.
Many promise you “Chinese prices.” Few tell you what happens when something goes wrong.
We do not ask you to take our word for it.
We provide you with written, contractual, and insurance guarantees that no improvised trader can offer you.
We apply a double check:
1. In Asia: Our technical staff performs factory audits and in-line inspections during production.
2. In Italy: Before delivery to you, the goods pass through our metrological laboratory in Genoa. We verify tolerances and materials with CMM machines, 3D scanners, and spectrometers.
This is the guarantee that gives our customers peace of mind. EDR Fittings covers every supply with a Third-Party Liability Insurance Policy.
If one of our components should cause accidental damage to property or persons due to a manufacturing defect, you are covered.
Virtually no one else does this. We do.
We know that investing in new molds can be daunting. Here is our pact: We produce the tooling and the first samples. If they do not conform to the drawing, we redo them at our expense.
What if the second trial is also unsuccessful?
We will fully refund the cost of the tooling. You do not risk a single euro.
Forget about fluctuations in the Dollar or Yuan that erode margins once an order has started.
The price we agree upon at the time of the order is what you will pay upon delivery, in Euro. We take on the exchange rate risk.
We directly manage intermodal transport from Asia to the rest of the world by air, rail, or sea.
Should production suffer an unexpected delay, we take charge of the urgent air shipment to get you the parts needed to keep the line running, at no additional cost to you.

We are not salespeople; we are technicians and engineers.
Behind EDR Fittings there is no anonymous investment fund. There is Edoardo Della Rocca, founder and technician with a visceral passion for mechanics.
“I founded EDR with a simple idea: to combine the best technologies in the
world (which today are found in Asia) with the culture of Italian quality.
I am a pilot (Porsche GT3) and a nautical commander: I know that a defective component is not just a cost, it is a risk that one cannot afford.”
This is why several times a year I personally visit the factories of our production partners in China and India. I am not satisfied with a report via email.
I want to see the machines running and the quality controls being performed.”

FAQ
No, we will take care of it. The transition from CNC to forging requires specific technical adjustments (draft angles, fillet radii) to ensure correct material flow. Our Technical Office in Genoa performs the co-design of the component: we take your 3D file, optimize it for forging, and send it back to you for approval. You maintain functionality, and we guarantee forgeability.
We don’t rely on trust, but on chemistry. Those who purchase directly in Asia risk receiving materials with the wrong composition. EDR applies a strict protocol: every heat is verified with a spectrometer directly at the foundry. Furthermore, upon arrival in Italy, we perform random counter-analyses in our laboratory or at accredited third-party institutions. The part arrives accompanied by a real and verified 3.1 certificate (EN 10204).
“Laps” or cooling cracks are typical risks for those who do not control the thermal process. For critical or safety components, we do not limit ourselves to visual inspection. We perform specific non-destructive testing (NDT): Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) to detect invisible surface micro-cracks and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to verify the integrity of the core of the part. You receive only structurally sound components.
Absolutely not. The molds are your exclusive property 100%. EDR acts only as a technical custodian to ensure routine maintenance (cleaning, storage). If you decide to move production, we are contractually obligated to return the equipment to you or transfer it where you indicate. We do not hold your assets hostage: we want you to stay with us for the quality of service, not out of obligation.
It is a pure matter of mathematics. If you consume more than 200-300 pieces per year and your part requires significant material removal, hot forging is almost always more cost-effective than CNC. Thanks to our supply chain, the cost of dies (molds) is reduced by 80% compared to Europe (you often break even on the investment with the very first order). We will provide you with a free Break-Even Point analysis to show you exactly at what number of pieces you start to profit by switching to forgings.
Hot forging is a Near Net Shape process, but for bearing seats or precise couplings, secondary machining is necessary. The advantage of EDR is that we provide you with the finished part: we manage the CNC machining (turning/milling/grinding) internally to bring critical dimensions within tolerance. You don’t have to manage subcontractors or move parts: they arrive ready for the line.
We are in the office from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM and one of our sales representatives is ready to assist you!
