Automated green sand molding systems
The top choice for efficiency in medium and large series. (e.g., automated lines with 900×840×280 mm flasks and productivity up to 160 molds/hour).
Disamatic systems
For very high production runs. Automatic vertical sand molding (700×700×480 mm flasks) to produce up to 450 flasks per hour.
Sand-resin (chemical sand)
The necessary solution for massive castings, complex geometries, and critical thicknesses (systems with flasks up to 1500×1000×600 mm).

If one of our components should cause accidental damage to property or persons due to a manufacturing defect, you are covered.

LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS
Before casting the series, we run casting simulation software to optimize risers and feeding channels. On critical castings, we apply Non-Destructive Testing (Ultrasonic UT and X-ray RX) before the part leaves for Italy. We find the defect in the foundry, not your operator on the milling machine.
It is a legitimate concern, but the numbers prove us right. The key to our savings (up to 25% net) lies not only in the cost of the raw part, but in the supply of the component already machined in China. In Asia, the hourly costs of 5-axis machining centers for roughing and finishing are significantly lower. You receive the finished and packaged part (DDP delivered, customs included): the savings on machining more than absorb the logistical impact of the weight.
Metallurgy is the heart of cast iron. We verify the chemistry of the melt with spectrometers before pouring. Every batch is accompanied by nodularity checks (for ductile iron) under a metallographic microscope and tensile/hardness tests on specimens taken from the same heat. We always provide the material certificate.
The patterns, core boxes, and plates you pay for are your exclusive property. EDR Fittings takes care of their maintenance and temperature-controlled storage at partner foundries. If the project ends or you decide to withdraw them, we organize the shipment to your headquarters in Italy. Everything is governed by an Italian contract.
Legal protection is our shield for you. In addition to performing 100% hydraulic pressure tests (if specified in the drawing), every EDR Fittings supply is covered by our Allianz Third Party Liability Policy (Product Liability). If a hidden defect in our casting causes damage to property or persons, our insurance responds, protecting you and your company assets.
We manage minimum orders starting from €4,000 total. If your single casting or prototype in cast iron is large (e.g., a 2-ton base), we handle it easily with manual or sand-resin molding systems. If we are talking about small 1 kg parts, a single piece is not amortizable and we will honestly tell you that we are not the right supplier for that specific prototype.
For new cast iron orders, we estimate an average of 60 days for pattern making, casting, and sample testing. Once approved, the mass production cycle and sea freight take approximately 3 months. We always suggest managing via “blanket orders” or safety stocks for subsequent batches to completely eliminate logistical lead times.
